letting go is the act of freeing yourself from something that no longer serves you ,but it is one of the most challenging and profound practices in life. It can be hard ,it is always not east to release things that have been part of our lives, whether it is a relationship, a mistake or something that holds us back. But letting go is an important step towards living a healthier and happy life. The act of letting go is not about erasing our memories or forgetting our experiences . Letting go is about freeing ourselves from emotional weight that keep us bound with the past. It giving us the space to move forward into brighter and more fulfilled future. Sometimes without letting go we tangle ourselves into the past that hurt. Letting go can be one of the hardest but most important things we do in life.
Why we need to let go of something ?
1)To heal and move forward – When we hold our past in present, it gives regret or pain and hurt ourselves to keep us stuck in emotionally. Letting go help us to heal and move forward. When we release our negative emotion and past things we free ourselves to grow, feel positive and joyful without being stuck in the past.
2)To create space for new opportunities – Sometimes when we are entangled in our old things , we are unable to focus on the present like a person rejected many times from the job interview , he start doubting himself as to why he is not getting a job and creates negative thoughts in his mind and afraid of applying for the job. But letting go help you to clear the things and give space for something new that suited for your present life .
3)To find peace and reduce stress– Some things can give us stress which is added in our life. Reduce stress is the important part of our life, letting go help us to focus on what truly mean us and matter it allow us to live more peacefully.
4) To practice self-love and self-respect – Prioritizing ourselves from the toxic people or situation. Most of the time we forget ourselves ,we forget about prioritizing ourselves from the toxic people or situation. By letting go we practice to prioritize our self respect which is important because we deserve peace , happiness and joy in our life .
5) To stop wasting energy – We spend our energy on things that are not useful for us, it can take up valuable and emotional energy . letting go help us to focus the things that will truly benefit for us.

Here are the few steps:-
1)Acknowledge what you need to let go – First of all you need to find out what is holding you back – whether it ‘s a person , mistake fear or something about someone, recognizing what needs to go is the first step in the process . Sometimes we hold things because they were important at one point . But as we grow we need to understand what things really matter .
2)Accept your feelings – Many of us fear that if we let go something we’ll lose control. It is normal to feel sad ,angry when you let go of something . Allow yourself to experience these emotion without any judgment because acceptance is the key to move on something.
3) Shift your focus – Once you have acknowledge what things you are let go, now start focusing on what you want to bring in your life. And we need to accept that something are not in our control. By accepting it does not means you are giving up. You are giving yourself a peace with reality to positive in your life .
4) Make space for new things – After let go we have to make a room for our new experiences , relationship and opportunities. Like when you get bored with your old clothes you make new space for new cloths, similarly when you let go of your things you need to make a fresh starts.
5)Be kind to yourself– Always be kind to yourself because letting go is not always easy. Sometimes it is very difficult to move on with the emotions but it is okay it take times . So be patient with yourself , but remember that the thing hurt you right now after letting go it gives you peace and happier life.
The activities we can do to letting go of things
- Meditation– Practice mindfulness meditation that focus on healing ,forgiveness and let go of the emotions or thoughts.
- Breathing exercise– Deep breathing exercise help you to calm your body and mind .
- Art therapy– Create something through art, music to express your feeling . Drawing and painting is the best way to express your feeling and release emotion .
- Spending time in nature- Go for a morning and evening walk and you can also go for a trip that connect with nature.
- Practicing gratitude- focusing on gratitude for what you have now and learned a lesson from the past. Write a gratitude journal that can be a good way to start.
